Jessica Bohan
Jessica Bohan has a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science from Florida State University and a Master's degree in Public Health from the University of South Florida. After completing her BS degree, she worked for a year as an Environmental Health Specialist for the state of Florida and, for the next seven years, as a Senior Safety and Health Program Analyst and then as a Safety and Health Specialist. Since 2002, she has been a Safety and Health Consultant for the University of South Florida’s USF SafetyFlorida program. Based out of Ormond Beach, FL, she provides free and confidential workplace safety consultation to small businesses that request the service or have a high rate of workplace illness and injury. She performs comprehensive on-site safety and health inspection services for a wide variety of industries, offering technical guidance to clients regarding safety and health issues and assisting employers to develop, write and implement written safety and health programs to ensure compliance with federal standards. Ms. Bohan helps employers calculate lost workday injury and illness rates and compares these statistics to similar industries around the nation. She also leads formal training and education courses in a variety of topics for the USF OSHA Training Institute Education Center.
Ms. Bohan has three certifications: Certified Safety Professional, Occupational Safety and Health Technician, and Certified Utility Safety Administrator. She is an Authorized OSHA outreach trainer for the construction industry and general industry 10- and 30-hour classes. She belongs to the Junior League of Daytona Beach and the American Society of Safety Engineers. She currently is serving in her second term, as a Director for the Board of Certified Safety Professionals, which is headquartered in Champaign, Illinois.
Ms. Bohan has participated in hurricane recovery activities, providing safety interventions at hurricane recovery construction and debris management sites. Among the businesses she normally consults with, she has worked in manufacturing, construction, longshoring and marine terminals throughout the state. She has helped facilities qualify for the prestigious OSHA SHARP award program.
